Corn, botanicals, and fresh raspberries
Distiller Jones Distilling (Revelstoke, BC)

You often see fruit gins - typically blueberry or sloe - but not too often, surprisingly, raspberry. This gin is made by steeping kilograms of fresh raspberries into the revelstoke gin base for several days to extract colour, flavour, and aroma.

Often, you taste gins or vodkas which have artificial flavours put in them. I tend to find them abhorrent.

But - no artificial flavours here! The berry notes come through so cleanly – you can tell that it is made from real raspberries. It reminds me of picking them right off the vine when I was growing up.

Fresh raspberries, raspberry jam, light juniper, citrus, pine, white pepper, and coriander on the nose – the way that the raspberry/raspberry seeds play off the juniper is pretty fantastic. The finish is a wonderful mix of fresh ripe raspberries, spice, wood, and citrus. Pretty nice stuff!

It works great in cocktails, too.

Highly Recommended.
