Distiller Bowmore (Bowmore, Scotland)

This is an older bottle of Bowmore - bought in France in the last 1990s. It was part of a box set, along with the a 12, 15, and 21 year old - and a bottle of Bowmore Legend. Quite different than the Bowmore we see these days!

Lightly smoky, but with some weird floral notes. Dried fruits, stale oat cakes, whisps of smoke, and some sweet tarts. Toasted coconut, with time. The palate is smoky, but loaded again with sweet tarts and jujubes. Smoke is there, and a bit of lime. What a weird mix. Similar to the 12 in this set, but with a bit more marmalade and dried fruit. Finish is slightly spicy, with some lingering smoke, sweet tarts, dried fruit, and white pepper.

This one doesn’t quite do it for me.
