This is an older bottle of Bowmore - bought in France in the last 1990s. I was curious to see how it compared to the modern 15 Year Old - it is very different.

Sweet and dusty on the nose, with light smoke, dried blueberries, dried cherries, and some white pepper. Ashy smoke. The palate has smoke at the centre, almost a bitter smoke, with mixed smoked meats, baking spice, and some oat cakes. Smoky, lingering finish. It’s together pretty well, and doesn’t have the weird floral notes in the 12 year old and the legend in this box set. There are nice nutty, dried fruit notes too. Very nice!
But, not as good as the modern stuff still, I don’t think.
