Review: Elements of Islay Peat Full Proof Islay Blended Malt Scotch Whisky / by Jason Hambrey

100% Malted Barley
Distiller Islay Distilleries (Scotland)

Another Elements of Islay bottling - but this is a blend of Islay peaty malts and bottled at the batch proof. I like the nifty 500 ml bottles.

What an awesome nose! Smoky, earthy, medicinal, oily….I do love the bottles too. Wet earth, woodsmoke, cacao, white pepper, iodine, unripe pear, fresh lemon, oat cakes, cinnamon, and oak. The palate is clean, with vanilla, blueberry, ashy smoke, smoked fish, citrus zest, brown sugar, cinnamon, tobacco, and a bit of fresh thyme. A very long, smoky, ashy, herbal, medicinal,  and earthy finish. Awesome! Very well blended, nicely balanced, very interesting.

Great body, too.

Very Highly Recommended (19% of all whiskies I’ve reviewed to date get this recommendation or higher).
High, based on $94/750 mls.
