Grainy, apple seeds, and some light green and dusty character to it as well. Very pleasing, and the grain is just brilliant in it as in the other Miltonduff that I tasted. Green apple, pear, butter, quite creamy.

The palate is oily in a very pleasing way, with a light growing malt and apple and pear and peach character. The finish is oily and creamy, with the malt and very gentle spices in the mix. Some creamy bourbon on the end. The core isn’t quite as brilliant as the 18 year old, but this is still some pretty solid stuff. Dried peach, dried pineapple and passionfruit on the finish. A bit tangy, in a good way, too. Not as clear cut, either, as the 18. Nice stuff, though!

Recommended (81% of whiskies I’ve reviewed to date get this recommendation or higher).

Value: Low, based on $118.
