Review: Pike Creek Canadian Whisky (US Export Version; NAS) / by Jason Hambrey

Finished in Vintage Port Casks
Distiller Hiram Walker (Windsor, Ontario)

This whisky is similar to the Pike Creek 10 Year Old which is available in Canada, except that it is a little younger and doesn't have an age statement. However, in my tastings of it, I haven't found the quality to differ from the 10 Year version available in Canada.

Review (2015; Blind)

This whisky was tasted and reviewed blind.

Woody and spicy, complex and dark. On the palate - candied oranges, maple, rye spice, and a bit of a weetabix finish to it as the grains shining through. The balance is good and the spices and candied orange hold the end quite nicely. It tastes ever-so-lightly younger than the Canadian version, but the quality is the same (in 2015 at any rate).
